Elegant Christmas Cocktails with Furleigh Estate

Celebrate in true British style this festive season with premium Dorset-based wine producer Furleigh Estate. This award-winning winery has developed three Christmas cocktail recipes for the party season and to toast in the New Year using their finest Sparkling Rosé, Classic Cuvée and Blanc de Noirs. 

The star ingredient in 'Christmas at the Estate' cocktail is Classic Cuvée. Blended from the noble champagne varieties, this sparkling wine with its delicate fine bubbles and golden colour is a real treat. Accompany with a homemade clementine and redcurrant syrup with soda water and rosemary to pack a seasonal punch. 

A perfect party tipple is the 'Dorset Twinkle' using exquisitely elegant Sparkling Rosé, with aromas of wild strawberries and white peach. Shake the Sparkling Rosé with vodka and elderflower liqueur with a garnish of edible glitter for a festive twinkle.                                                                                                                       

A sophisticated classic, 'Peach and Almond Bellini' completes the cocktail list using celebratory Blanc De Noirs. This English sparkling wine is made entirely from the red grapes, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and is incredibly light, fruity and vivacious. In a champagne flute add peach puree, almond essence and top with Blanc de Noirs for the perfect romantic cocktail. 

Looking ahead to Valentine's Day, Furleigh Estate's new 'Sea Pink' is a stunning choice.  A vibrant soft pink colour with notes of wild strawberries, pepper and redcurrant on the nose and a bright, fruit-driven palate with a richness of honey and hits of brioche and almond.  Perfect to share with a loved one to create a romantic mood, 'Sea Pink' is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Rondo. The palate is bursting with flavours of sun-ripened soft red fruit alongside redcurrant and cranberry with a dash of uplifting acidity. 

Furleigh Estate at Salway Ash, near Bridport is set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just five miles from Dorset's Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.  The soil at the vineyards is perfect for growing world-class still and sparkling wines. 

Amongst the many awards received, Furleigh Estate was recently awarded Trophies in the International Wine Challenge and in the Japan Wine Challenge, the Classic Cuvée was the first and so far only English sparkling wine to win a gold medal in the prestigious Effervescent du Monde competition held in Lyon.

  • Rebecca Hansford, daughter of a dairy farmer, left the Southwest for university not thinking she would ever return to live in the area. Twenty years later she and her partner did return and, in fact, bought Rebecca's childhood home which her father had sold during the intervening period.  Now the former dairy farm is a thriving vineyard and winery making world-class sparkling wine which is served in the best restaurants across the country. 
  • Once the decision was made to run a vineyard and winery at Furleigh Estate, Ian went back to university to study winemaking and he is now responsible for all the wine produced on-site.

  • The Estate is open for wine sales from Monday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm and runs tours on Wednesdays through to Saturdays.
