Pellegrini's Italian Flair Shines on Opening Night

Pellegrini

A new Italian restaurant just launched in the heart of Glasgow is set to join the ranks of the city's finest eateries.

That's the view of guests last night which saw Pellegrini on Argyle Street, the brainchild of UK restaurant celebrities and multiple award-winning partnership Rosaria Crolla and Maurizio Pellegrini open to critical acclaim.

Executive chef Maurizio Pellegrini who was born and spent the first part of his life in Milan but grew up near the sea in Puglia in southern Italy explained:

“Pellegrini is an Italian restaurant with a southern Italian heritage created by my talented wife Rosaria and I. My diverse experience has given me the passion and the knowledge of classic regional Italian cooking that we'll be utilising in our kitchen and we hope our customers will like it very much.”

Rosaria and Maurizio rose to fame on national TV when they were semi-finalists on Channel Five's Marco Pierre White's Kitchen Wars. They impressed the fiery Yorkshireman with their fine food and Rosaria's fabulous front-of-house service (which also included a little impromptu opera performance!)

In addition and citing one of numerous plaudits which rank alongside the likes of The Times' Giles Coren, they appeared in BBC Olive Magazine's feature The Italian guide to eating like an Italian by award-winning Observer and Guardian food writer Tony Naylor after he visited The Italian Club and Italian Club Fish in Liverpool.
