Baboo Gelato

As the largest independent regional food group in the UK, the Taste of the West champions the finest food and drink producers from the region. In the Ice Cream and Sorbets category for 2019, Baboo is honoured to have won six gold awards and one silver. The silver was awarded to Baboo's Crystallised Ginger gelato, and Gold awards were given for their:

  • Madagascan Vanilla gelato
  • Hazelnut gelato
  • Mint Choc Chip gelato (made with Summerdown peppermint from Hampshire)
  • Passionfruit sorbet
  • Humbug gelato (made with Dorset sea salt and Summerdown peppermint)
  • Brandy gelato

Quality is at the heart of Baboo Gelato's ethos, so the team could not be prouder to have their creations recognised by Taste of the West. The team always make their gelatos and sorbets by hand using the finest ingredients that are locally sourced where possible, including organic milk from a nearby farm. Much of the fruit used in their recipes comes from founder Annie Hanbury's own garden, or from local farms and suppliers.

Baboo Gelato is available in over 40 flavours from the Baboo Gelato kiosks in West Bay, Bridport, and Lyme Regis, and in select farm shops, delis and restaurants in the South West, including the River Cottage Canteen. Flavours are available on a rotational basis. Visit the website www.baboogelato.com or follow @baboo_gelato on Instagram for more information.

About Baboo
Baboo Gelato is a multi-award-winning artisanal gelato handmade in Bridport, Dorset.  Master gelatiere Annie Hanbury launched Baboo in 2015, and makes the gelato using the best ingredients she can find both locally and globally. Baboo source organic milk from a local organic dairy farm whose cows graze on a variety of grasses, herbs and flowers which give a much richer flavour to the milk.  Much of the fruit used in Baboo's gelato is homegrown in Annie's abundant smallholding including raspberries, rhubarb, apples, pears, plums, redcurrants, blackcurrants, and gooseberries.  With such a fabulous choice at her fingertips, Annie loves to experiment with flavours and the end results speak for themselves.
