The Three Drinkers

Season One of The Three Drinkers Hits Screens on November 26th.

'The Three Drinkers Do Scotch Whisky', a delicious four part series exploring the enigmatic world of Scottish whisky launches on Amazon Prime on Monday, November 26th. The Three Drinkers invite viewers to embark on an imbibing adventure putting fun and spirit side by side taking the audience on a journey of discovery through Scotland.

The Three Drinkers is an 'edutainment' style travelogue with a twist. The programme follows three friends, Colin, Aidy and Helena, on a tasting adventure around the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Along the way, they visit the world's most famous distilleries, taste local delicacies such as 'Festy Cock' and take in the unique Scottish culture and majestic countryside all delivered with a refreshing presenting style and blended with a good measure of humour and a few surprises thrown into the mix.

Who are the Three Drinkers? Colin Hampden-White (wine and whisky aficionado and Keeper of the Quaich), Adrian 'Aidy' Smith (wine and spirits personality) and Helena 'Winebird' Nicklin (award-winning wine writer and presenter). All genuine friends in real life, the three discover more about one of their favourite drinks through the places where it's distilled. The concept behind The Three Drinkers is to create a series of dedicated programmes centred around individual spirits and types of drinks, whisky is the central theme of the first four-part season to be aired.

The Three Drinkers: Doing Drinks Differently. The drinks world has often struggled to present its products on screen without coming across as unapproachable and pretentious, swirling glasses and bestowing lofty tasting notes. Added to the fact that most drinks tend to all look the same on camera, no one has yet cracked how to make a subject that is so rich in real life, actually look appealing and inspirational on screen. Until now.

Over four 30 minute episodes, using big personalities, breathtaking landscapes, quirky visuals and humour, The Three Drinkers showcase the mysterious world of whisky in all it's glory, making this iconic drink more accessible and inclusive for the gastronomic-loving audience.

Why now? Whisky is a growing market globally, the sector has become increasingly popular over the last two decades. According to the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA), visits to Scotch whisky visitor centres have risen by 45% since 2010. Tourist spend was also up last year, increasing by 15.6 per cent. So, in short, whisky is hot and continuing to grow globally, with big names in international whisky seeing huge growth in value per bottle for investors. With the popularity of online streaming and Amazon Prime's success in this sector, now is the perfect time to bring those two worlds firmly together.

What else? Wraparound Content. The Three Drinkers Do Scotch Whisky is supported by media and travel partner Winerist.com, to offer wraparound content in the form of written features, social media, suggested Scottish itineraries and bookable whisky experiences. Winerist offers food and drink travel experiences all around the world and has its own online magazine as well as a large, global social media presence, making it the ideal partner for the show.

Format: 4 x 30 mins: The Three Drinkers Do Scotch Whisky is a four-part series. The first three episodes focus on whisky and Scotland and the fourth episode looks at drinking whisky in context in London, checking out modern and old style whisky bars against a backdrop of iconic landmarks and destinations. The series will be available to Amazon Prime subscribers initially in 127 territories (with more coming) around the world, representing a potential global audience of 250 million.

The first three episodes will premiere on the 26th November on Amazon Prime. Episode four will be screened in January.
