Leiths Launches 24 Part Online Cookery Course

Leiths School of Food and Wine

Today, a world famous cookery school launched its first digital course for aspiring professionals and keen home cooks.

Leiths School of Food and Wine have partnered with tech start-up Workshop to launch their Essential Certificate in an online format.

The course is usually taken in person, over 24 sessions, at Leiths' West London cookery school building.

Now, for the first time in the school's 40 year history, a professional course is available in an app-based format.

Managing Director Camilla Schneideman said: “With our London kitchens packed to the brim, we've long been on the lookout for ways to share the expertise of our teachers beyond our four walls.

“We needed to find a way to do this while maintaining our exceptional quality of teaching, and the answer came in the form of Workshop.

“Collaborating with the Workshop team has allowed us to overcome the common hurdles associated with distance learning.

“Our Online Essential Certificate is vibrant and interactive, and students can take it wherever they are in the world; all they need is a kitchen.

“Employers love our graduates, and this course will unlock a whole range of culinary opportunities. We can't wait to watch our online students realise their potential.”

In every session, students follow a Leiths teacher through a series of high quality, step-by-step videos, learning directly through experience.

Students are also part of an online peer group, and after each practical exercise, they are encouraged to upload pictures of their creations for discussion and feedback.

At the end of the course, students can choose whether they would simply like to receive a certificate of completion, or attend Leiths in person for a two day practical course leading to a professional accreditation.

From stock making to knife skills, and from choux pastry to shellfish, it really is a brave new world for Leiths.

The first course starts on 5th January 2019 and is available to book now. To find out more, visit Leiths.com.
