As home of authentic Roman dishes and the best pasta in town, Pasta Remoli Finsbury Park will be introducing gorgeous Pinsa Romana to the menu from today, the 10th of May!
A pizza-like flat bread topped with tomato, cheese and often cured meats, the Pinsa Romana goes as far back as Ancient Rome where it was originally created La Cucina Povera (cooking of the poor). During the times of the Empire, it is said that this cuilnary delight was often used as an offering to the Roman Gods. Well, if it's good enough for them.
The word 'pinsa' comes from the Latin 'Pinsere' meaning to squeeze or to stretch, hence the Pinsa Romana's signature oval shape and thinner, crispier base. Each Pinsa Romana dough has its own secret recipe, and it is a healthier alternative to regular pizza dough as it uses a combination of not just wheat flour, but Pasta Remoli's recipe includes gluten free and whole wheat flour. The dough is laid to rise for over 40 hours, ensuring a wonderful flavour and crispy base when baked.
“Pinsa Romana, I just love it! A really authentic Roman dish that I grew up with and would so look forward to eating. It is a wonderful addition to the Pasta Remoli Finsbury Park menu that we cannot wait to share with our diners,” says Simone Remoli, founder of Pasta Remoli.
The Pinsa Romana menu will include Margherita (£8), Amatriciana - Guanciale, tomato, red onion and Pecorino (£9), Pugliese – Burrata, Parma ham, rocket and fresh chilli (£11), Tirolese – smoked ham, Scamorza and radicchio (£10), Vegana - aubergine, courgette, red peppers, tomato (£9).
Buon appetito!
