Experience Family-Style Macanese Afternoon Tea at The Manor

The St. Regis Macao

(Macao SAR, April 12, 2018) – The St. Regis Macao, Cotai Central presents an all-new afternoon tea buffet celebrating authentic Macanese recipes. Available every Saturday from 3-6pm, Chá Gordo, a traditional family-style tea time featuring rare Macanese dishes and local delicacies, will be served.

Chá Gordo, which literally translates into “Fat Tea” from Portuguese, refers to a “rich spread” or “feast”. A symbol of the great Macanese hospitality and their age-old Portuguese and Eastern influenced culinary customs, Chá Gordo is traditionally a family home celebration served in the late afternoon with a big dose of gusto. As a tribute to this celebrated custom, The Manor has collected classic recipes to recreate an afternoon tea experience that captures this unique Macanese culture.

The Manor's “Chá Gordo – Fat Tea” menu features over 30 exquisite delicacies. Savouries include Apabicos (Pork & Salted Radish Rice Flour Dumplings), Chilicote (Fried Minchi Beef & Pork Pastries), Chilicote-Folhas (Pork & Balichão Steamed Dumplings) and Pãozinhos Recheado (Crisp Fried Mini Bun, Curried Minced Meat).

Guests can also delight in traditional desserts such as Pudim Molotof (Portuguese Egg White Cake), Bagi (Coconut Rice Pudding), Bolo de Chocolate (Portuguese Chocolate Cake), Ladu (Coconut, Soya & Palm Sugar Cake), as well as Macao's signature drinks Xarope de Figo (Homemade Fig Syrup)  and Xarope de Agrião (Homemade Watercress Syrup).

In addition to Macanese delicacies, the menu also includes Chinese dim sum classics such as BBQ Pork Buns, Pork Siu Mai, and local's favourites such as Maltose Cracker Sandwiches. To round off the culture-crossing meal, guests can choose to sample Minchi, a Macanese home-style dish, or Lacassá (Rice Vermicelli with Prawns and BBQ Pork) served at their table.

The Manor's latest promotion coincides with UNESCO recognising Macao as a “Creative City of Gastronomy”. With 2018 marked as Macao's Year of Gastronomy, The Manor's Chá Gordo Afternoon Tea showcases the rich heritage of Macao's dining culture, catering to those looking for an authentic sampling of Macanese flavours.

Chá Gordo is available every Saturday from 3-6pm, and is priced at MOP148* per person, including coffee or tea. For reservations or more information, please email themanor.macao@stregis.com or call +853 2882 8898.
