Overlooking London's historic Borough Market, Arthur Hooper's restaurant will serve guests European small plates, partnered with a curated wine list.
Victorian Arthur Hooper was a charming fruit salesman, who once occupied 8 Stoney Street. Recently derelict, the building's historical ties to food and the local community have been lovingly restored.
The 51-seater restaurant offers guests a modern European menu, designed by Chef Lale Oztek. Lale's selection of small plates are inspired by fresh nutritious ingredients and flavours, sourced from local market suppliers including Neal's Yard, Cannon & Cannon and Bread Ahead.
Dishes include mussels with nduja and turnip tops, burrata, samphire and almond salad, and pork and fennel ragufettuccine. Guests will also enjoy daily seasonal specials, created through using the best available produce. Dishes will range from £4 to £16.
"I'm excited to bring my love and enthusiasm for food to such an iconic and historic destination. We'll work hard to ensure that our customers feel welcomed, whilst enjoying delicious dishes from around Britain and Europe, in a relaxed and friendly environment” Chef Lale Oztek
The rough jewel box interior has been exclusively handcrafted by Massimo Minale, architect and creative director of Buster + Punch. Drawing inspiration from historic city markets, Victorian steel structures, cobbled pavements and decaying wooden stalls become crafted steel caged light fittings, custom hexagonal concrete flooring and tailored rare-wood cabinetry. Featured artworks include pieces by acclaimed artists Matt Small and Dan Hillier.
"As we work a stone's throw from Stoney Street and Borough Market this project was very close to our hearts. Our design is a glimpse into the future trends and products that we're passionate about, whilst embracing London's most interesting larder, in the city we love” Massimo Minale
Accompanying Chef Lale's menu, our great friends at Liberty Wines have helped to curate a signature wine list featuring over 50 wines including vintage specials. General Manager of Arthur Hooper's Sergio Aboy commented.
“There will be plenty of wines available to try by the glass, infusing the spirit of the area's tradition that allows visitors to easily sample new delicacies. Arthur Hooper's is the perfect space to relax and unwind in.”
We look forward to meeting you.
