The Star Sydney's exciting pop-up dining series continues with the announcement of Gingergirl, an extraordinary new Asian hawker-style street food dining experience opening on
Friday, 16 December.
Gingergirl is a creative and tasty pop-up by one The Star's signature chefs, Teage Ezard of BLACK Bar & Grill and the team behind his cult Melbourne restaurant, Gingerboy.
Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week until the end of March 2017, Gingergirl celebrates Ezard's love of contemporary Asian cuisine and draws inspiration from Gingerboy's vibrant experimental menu.
Gingergirl follows three hugely successful pop-ups at The Star over the last year, including Luke Nguyen's Street Food, Sokyo Ramen by Chase Kojima, and Singapore Hawker Style.
Teage Ezard said: “I'm really excited to take over The Star's pop-up restaurant space this summer, to bring the energetic pace and vibrant taste of Gingerboy to foodies in Sydney.
“Many people know I find huge inspiration in the bold flavours of Southeast Asian street food, so I can't wait to follow Luke and Chase in offering this style of experience at The Star.”
The casual dining menu features a range of offbeat Southeast Asian-inspired street food dishes perfect for summer, including cold noodle salad with squid, drunken chicken, sesame, paw paw and bandit dressing ($16); yellow curry of blue eye, lychee and mango salad ($22); and Wagyu brisket with peanut tamarind caramel and hot and sour coconut salad ($22); and more.
The menu will be complemented with delicious non-alcoholic beverages ($8-10), including refreshing green bubble tea punch, Vietnamese espresso, and the 'Tropic Thunder' slushie with coconut water, ginger, watermelon, passionfruit and lime.
Andy North, General Manager of Food & Beverage, The Star said: “We are proud that Teage, one of The Star's signature chefs, has decided to bring his Gingergirl concept to The Star's casual dining precinct this summer.
“Gingergirl is a unique opportunity for The Star's visitors to experience Teage's interpretation of Southeast Asian hawker-style cuisine, which already has a massive following in Melbourne.”
The Gingergirl pop-up will be open daily from Friday, 16 December until the end of March 2017; open on Sunday to Monday at 11.30am – 9.00pm, Tuesday to Thursday at 11.30am – 10.30pm and Friday to Saturday at 11.30am – 11.00pm.
