In response to growing customer demand, the award-winning Tarana Indian restaurant in Rainham, Kent is to launch a new gluten-free menu. 

Having been open for just over a year, with the focus on fine Indian dining, with authentic regional dishes using prime ingredients, Tarana was named 'Newcomer of the Year' at the Asian Curry Awards in October.

"There is a distinct trend away from typical curry-house fair, towards more delicate flavours, with discerning customers prepared to pay the extra it costs to produce cooking of this quality, said restaurant owner Raj Abdin, who added, “More and more customers are asking for gluten free dishes – so I've had my chefs develop recipes to meet this demand.”

The men included a Seafood Safari, a fusion of scallops, squid, and king pans cooking in mustard seeds and curry leaves in a bhuna sauce and Hiran Ki Boti, medallions of local venison drizzled with the chef's potli malsala, gentry pan-seared and served on a bed of sautéed potatoes with red apple and beetroot chutney.

Tarana was one of the first restaurants in the country to stock the new gluten free Goa Premium Beer imported from India.

The new dishes will be revealed at an exclusive VIP media and VIP lunch being held on Tuesday 29th November being held to celebrate the Asian Curry Award.  During the lunch Pat Chapman, founder and editor of the Good Curry Guide, will also present the restaurant with his a Certificate of Excellence Award for 2017.

Tarana has also been nominated for one of Produced in Kent's most prestigious Taste of Kent Awards, in 'Best Restaurant' category. Winners will be unveiled in March next year. Online voting is available via www.tasteofkentawards.co.uk
