Following a decorated career in hospitality spanning thirty years, Stuart Page and his wife Bupba have announced the opening of their first Sydney venue Mizz B'z Food & Wine next month, appointing one of Australia's leading Japanese chef's Masahiko Yomoda as Executive Chef.
Located in the St James Centre in Sydney's CBD, Mizz B'z, an ode to Stuart's wife Bupba and her Asian heritage, pays tribute to the many facets, cultures and flavours that make up east Asian cuisine; presented in a rich, elegant, contemporary setting. The venue is a reflection of the couples tireless travels and experiences in Asia over the last decade, in search of the perfect experiences to combine and bring back to Australia.
“We can't wait to introduce Mizz B'z and its exciting offering to Sydney. We worked so hard for decades getting the concept and offering right, and we are just thrilled to unveil it early next month. Masahiko is an incredibly talented chef who possesses an innate attention to detail and a level of precision I have not experienced in years. We can't wait for people to try our menu” said Owner Stuart Page.
Executive Chef Masahiko Yomoda is no stranger to working with some of the best in the industry, forging his career 22 years ago in France, where he worked at Three Michelin Star venue Alain Chapel under well known Head Chef Phillip Jousse. Following his spate in France, Yomoda moved back to Japan where he again worked for Three Michelin Star venues Joel Robuchon and Restaurant L'OSIER, before joining Arbace, where his experience saw the restaurant acquire a Michelin Star its first year.
Arriving in Sydney in 2008, Yomoda developed his affinity for Western cuisine. It was at this time that Yomoda participated in successful television series Iron Chef Sydney, before going on to work at The Observatory Hotel's Galileo; Bathers Pavillion; Est.; Sake and now Mizz B'z.
Staying true to the real essence of Pan Asian cuisine, Mizz B'z menu embodies an uncompromising style that has been perfected to reflect dishes that fuse the diverse aromatic flavours of Asian cooking with contemporary cuisine.
Using the finest quality ingredients available and prepared with the utmost care, the menu authentically uplifts its inspirations while offering guests the additional delight of family-style dining options – food comes continuously throughout the meal and is placed at the center of table for all to share.
Yomoda's inspiration for the Mizz B'z menu is a reflection of both his Japanese heritage and classical French training, in that although the menu is representative of Pan-Asian cuisine, the level of delicacy and care seen in each dish showcases his impeccable training.
A few standout dishes to start include Hokkaido scallops, apple ginger confit, cumin orange scented sauce (21); “Duo” steamed white fish, burned leek sesame oil (39) and Drunken chicken, green mango, chilli salad (24) both to share.
