In the laneway of Sydney's historic State Theatre now lies a hidden gem, PLR2. The aromas of barista crafted coffee and one of the finest gruyere toasted sandwich now fills the historic Parlour Lane.
This hidden gem, hole in the wall coffee shop design by renowned interior designer, Nic Graham, combines the cutting-edge design and all the elements of crafting a great coffee.
“The concept for the PLR2 stemmed from the idea of coffee being considered by some as liquid gold said Nic Graham. “We also wanted to contrast the grit and grime of the laneway with a glimmering gold hole in the wall, creating a chasm in the streetscape.”
PLR2 is not about machines or the bravado, it's all about crafting a great coffee moulded with a unique Sydney laneway experience. Perfect for those grabbing their coffee on the go, PLR2 has a succinct food menu with a handful of snacks such as Sonoma bread-based toasties and house baked patisseries. Serving one of famed coffee roasters Allpress' most popular blends, Carmelo, PLR2's coffee is lively and full bodied with distinct caramel flavours.
PLR2 in the State Theatre's Parlour Lane off George St and will be open Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 3.30pm.

About Nic Graham:
Nic Graham has made a name for himself after delivering the vibrant and transcendent interiors of QT Gold Coast. Graham has been running his own studio in Sydney with a small team and has worked in all of the traditional design categories including architecture, furniture and product design, and interiors.
About The State Theatre:
The grand State Theatre is an extraordinary example of eclectic architecture, mixing cinema baroque with elements of Gothic, Italian and art deco design. The building has a rich history of glamour with the theatre opening to a great fanfare in 1929 and its progressive multi-level shopping precinct opening the following year. The interiors of the State Theatre feature rare original artworks and fixtures from William Dobell and Charles Wheeler, two of Australia's most significant artists.
About Allpress:
Allpress are a coffee roaster and espresso specialist. Allpress was established in New Zealand in 1986 when Michael Allpress decided to chase his love of traditional Italian espresso rather than his career as a chef. He built a coffee cart and began serving the largely unfamiliar espresso drinks in a local Auckland market. Very quickly, his obsession with flavour led him to source his own beans and begin roasting coffee. This fresh approach to flavour quickly generated interest from cafes and restaurants across the country and Michaels focus shifted from cart operator to specialty coffee roaster.
Allpress people are dedicated to producing the best coffee and providing friendly, knowledgable service. Their culture and sense of familiarity is nurtured, helped along by team members who have been around for more than 18 years and the fantastic migration of Allpress people between our roasterys in Auckland, Dunedin, Sydney, Melbourne, London and Tokyo.
