It's that time of year again when Devon restaurateurs come together to celebrate the amazing quality of the county's food and drink with Devon Restaurant Month throughout the month of June. With special seasonal menus, offers to diners, chef demonstrations and exclusive events, Devon Restaurant Month aims to put the county more firmly on the map for food tourism in the South West and beyond.
To mark its fifth anniversary, Devon Restaurant Month are launching a special competition for customers to enter, treating one lucky winner and their guest to attend any Devon Restaurant Month event of their choice.
Venues which are already involved in Devon Restaurant Month include: The Orangery Restaurant in Exeter, Ottery St Mary's Rusty Pig, Buckland Tout-Saints Hotel near Kingsbridge and The Greedy Goose on the Barbican in Plymouth.
Ben Palmer, chef-patron of The Greedy Goose, explains why they are taking part in this year's event: “We are really proud of Devon's foodie credentials and we are so lucky to have such amazing produce on our doorstep. We try to source all of our ingredients from a 20 mile radius, so taking part in Devon Restaurant Month is just our way of giving back.” Ben continues: “We're offering a special set lunch menu, to showcase the finest ingredients from the Devon larder.” The Greedy Goose's offer is a set menu during lunchtimes throughout June, £19 for two courses or £22 for three courses (Call 01752 252001 to book).
Dukes of Sidmouth, back for the second year, is hosting a Devon Seafood evening every Thursday throughout June. A special evening menu which will showcase the best of Devon's seafood, the menu will include delights such as fresh local fish and seafood, mussels, lobster, crab, scallops and whatever else the local fishermen catch on the day!
