Fratelli Fresh comprises six restaurants (five Café Sopra and one Café Nice) and four fresh produce retail outlets (Fratelli Fresh).

Including Fratelli Fresh, Urban Purveyor Group's annualised revenues will be in excess of $200 million. The business will consist of 26 venues, including 10 dining and entertainment brands, and over 2000 employees.

Urban Purveyor Group's Chief Executive Officer Thomas Pash said when it comes to great Italian food and hospitality, Fratelli Fresh is positioned at the top of the Australian dining sector.

“Fratelli Fresh, including Café Sopra and Café Nice, hold a special place in the hearts of Sydneysiders and we are excited to add such an amazing and much-loved business and innovative team to our group,” Mr Pash said.

“The inclusion of a casual, full-service Italian restaurant group enables us to aggressively enter one of the largest global dining sectors with a business that we believe can easily and quickly expand alongside our other recognised and respected brands.”

Fratelli Fresh:

  • Expands and enhances Urban Purveyor Group's best in class brand strategy and adds an industry leading and award-winning, full-service Italian pizza and pasta business to the group's portfolio;
  • Boosts Urban Purveyor Group's portfolio from 20 to 26 venues and from seven to 10 brands;
  • Increases the group's footprint with the addition of six Sydney locations in the CBD, Potts Point, Walsh Bay, and Alexandria;
  • Adds critical retail and wholesale food and beverage economies of scale to the group's vertically integrated business model, which includes three fully-owned subsidiaries: Urban Brewing Co., Urban Beverage Imports and Urban Fine Foods

Nina Gravelis, Fratelli Fresh Chief Operating Officer and daughter of founder Barry McDonald, will join Urban Purveyor Group's Senior Leadership Team as Brand General Manager and play a key role in the growth of the company. Mr McDonald will remain close to the business as an advisor.

“My father and I are thrilled to see our great business and amazing employees become part of Urban Purveyor Group,” said Ms Gravelis. “Becoming part of an exciting and expanding casual dining group like Urban Purveyor Group will allow Fratelli Fresh to quickly expand in Sydney and other major Australian markets and facilitate investment in current venues, which will take the customer dining experience to new levels.”
