Wheyhey founders, Greg Duggan and Damien Kennedy have been selected by Food Vision as “Trailblazers in the field of food and nutrition”. As part of their prize, Wheyhey has been asked to join the innovation panel at Food Vision, an annual three-day conference, where they will share their expert insights, and experiences of starting up a new and innovative nutritional snack.

Food Vision will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Martinez in Cannes from the 2nd- 4th March. The innovation panel, which will be hosted by Jeremy Basset, Founder and Head of The Unilever Foundry, gives companies a platform to share their story and provide an overview of both the industry and their product, alongside an audience of health, wellness and nutrition CEOs.

The event features a series of debates, guest speakers and networking opportunities with a format designed to facilitate knowledge transfer, develop commercial connections, and grow business relationships for leaders in the nutrition and food and drink industries.

Wheyhey has been selected due to its high protein and sugar free ice cream being an example of worthy innovation in the food sector against some of the industry's greatest challenges from personalised nutrition, the rise of the health conscious consumer and the search for new food sources.

Damien Kennedy, Co-Founder of Wheyhey commented, “We are delighted to have been selected to join the innovation panel at Food Vision, we look forward to sharing our story and challenges with experts, suppliers and distributors in the field. We developed Wheyhey in the hope of making a change throughout the nutrition industry, and it is our goal to inspire attendees to follow suit.”

The Unilever Foundry has helped small companies, start-ups and individual entrepreneurs since 2014. Upon its launch, Keith Weed, Unilever chief marketing and communications officer said it would open a 'direct line' to innovative companies and enable them to mutually benefit from working together.

Greg Duggan, Co-Founder of Wheyhey commented, “As a start-up business, Wheyhey has encountered many stumbling blocks along the way, but I am thrilled to see it is now making waves throughout the industry. When we launched Wheyhey, it was our hope that we could offer the health conscious consumer an alternative to sugary snacks and to have our successes recognised by Unilever is a huge achievement for us.”

Those invited to attend the Food Vision event include key representatives from the nutritional food and drink products and supplements industries. Delegate companies at Food Vision events include Nestlé, PepsiCo, Mars; Barilla, Coca-Cola, McCain Foods; Kraft Foods, Unilever and Danone amongst many others.

Established in 2013, Wheyhey is a high protein, sugar free ice cream, designed to provide a healthy snacking alternative. It is an all-natural protein ice cream, which is made from whey, a high protein product from the cheese making process. The formula contains xylitol, which is a natural sweetener that does not impact blood sugar levels and can help prevent disease caused by bacteria contributing to oral and dental health.

Wheyhey is currently stocked in a number of major retailers in the UK such as WholefoodsHolland & Barrett and GNC. It is available online through the Ocado and Muscle Food websites. The ice cream is also stocked at selected Odeon Cinema branches, Nuffield Health/gyms and ISS Defence and Healthcare sites. From Spring 2016 the brand plans to be available through nationwide grocery retailers.
