Nespresso

For its latest launch, Nespresso has looked to the unique coffee-growing communities of Lake Kivu, Rwanda and Chiapas, Mexico to develop two exceptional new Limited Edition coffees. Born in very different communities but united by devotion and expertise, the new Limited Editions are Pure Origin coffees, which means that 100% of the coffee has been sourced from one country of origin.

Nespresso has paired the farmers' dedication to growing high quality coffee with its own firmly established expertise in roasting and grinding technology to create 'UMUTIMA wa Lake Kivu' and 'TANIM de Chiapas'. Both Limited Editions titles translate as 'HEART of Lake Kivu' and 'HEART of Chiapas', signalling the dedication and passion for coffee cultivation across each community.

UMUTIMA wa Lake Kivu

The UMUTIMA wa Lake Kivu Limited Edition Grand Cru is a reflection of the small but highly modernised coffee growing communities that can be found on the densely populated and highly cultivated shores of Lake Kivuin Rwanda. Here, the growers have experienced a renaissance of the coffee growing industry and use the latest contemporary post-harvest practices to deliver coffee of the finest quality and aromatics that complement the Arabica.

To honour this and ensure the brightness and complexity of the beans' flavour is delivered to your cup, Nespresso coffee experts have enhanced these intrinsic flavourful qualities by split roasting the green coffee beans. One half of the green coffee beans undergoes a lighter roasting which highlights its juicy fruit notes, while the other half gets a darker roast for delightful strength and texture.

The result is a refreshing union of fluid texture with bright, juicy fruit notes, enhanced by a delicate aftertaste. UMUTIMA wa Lake Kivu has an intensity of 6 and can be enjoyed as either an Espresso or a Lungo. It works in perfect harmony with milk and can be enjoyed as a latte, a cappuccino or simply with a dash of milk in a macchiato.

TANIM de Chiapas

The coffee in Chiapas, Mexico, is grown on high, volcanic land side by side with other crops such as avocados and oranges. Farmers in the region favour traditional practices, which have been passed down through the generations and tend to the crops in their own backyards. For years, the farmers have chosen to grow their coffee under the shade of the lush, tropical rainforest, which prolongs the ripening and therefore provides beans of a consistent high quality with fine aromas.

Using their expertise to refine the beans from Chiapas, the Nespresso coffee experts apply a similar split roasting technique. To create TANIM de Chiapas, one part of the green coffee is roasted at a low temperature for a long time to protect the specific nutty and bready notes whilst the second part has a shorter, darker roasting to develop a smooth texture.

TANIM de Chiapas has an intensity level of 7 and is best enjoyed as a Ristretto or Espresso. It works in perfect harmony with milk and can be enjoyed as a latte, a cappuccino or simply with a dash of milk in a macchiato.

'UMUTIMA wa Lake Kivu' and 'TANIM de Chiapas' will be available from Nespresso Boutiques, the Nespresso Club and online at www.nespresso.com from 20th January 2016 for a limited period, priced at $9.30 for 10 capsules.
