Streetfood sensation Squid Kitchen are bringing their squid specialities and a host of new dishes inspired by Madrid Market Eating to Clapham this September, as the next kitchen resident at The King & Co pub. Running from Tuesday 1st September through until Sunday 4th October, the popup will give visitors an exclusive chance to taste traditional snacks and produce from the Spanish capital without leaving South London.
Since their launch last January, Squid Kitchen have become established members of the London streetfood scene; serving their signature Squid Kitchen Cones with Vampire Killer aioli and popular Bocadillo de Calamares (sourdough rolls stuffed with fried squid rings) regularly at Partridges Market in Chelsea and Chestnuts Market in Harringey, as well as popups in Tottenham and Peckham. Founder Sarah Rippon is committed to sourcing top quality produce, to ensure customers experience the finest of Madrid's flavours.
Squid Kitchen's September residency at The King & Co will allow guests to sample the popup chefs' unique squid-focused street delicacies, plus a wider new menu showcasing their twist on classic Madrid market snacks and produce - including Fiery Chorizo Stew, Godfather Peppers and Patatas Bravas topped with spicy tomato and paprika “Squid Vicious” sauce. The perfect pairing for the independent freehouse's refreshing craft beers, Squid Kitchen's daily sharing dishes will be complemented by special #FishFryDay offers on Friday nights, and Spanish-style all-day breakfast dishes on Saturdays and Sundays to enjoy with “Bottomless Brunch” Bloody Marys.
Located just moments away from the main drag of Clapham Common, The King & Co has earned its reputation as a pub with a difference. Renowned for its extensive lineup of carefully curated craft beers, wines and spirits, and extraordinary food unlike anything else on offer locally, the relaxed independent pub will celebrate its first birthday on Saturday 12th September. The upcoming Squid Kitchen residency is the latest in The King & Co's series of acclaimed kitchen collaborations with well-respected London streetfood traders and popup chefs, including Vinn Goute, Zoe's Ghana Kitchen, Miss P's Barbecue and Donostia Social Club.
Squid Kitchen founder Sarah Rippon said:
"We're really excited to have the opportunity to pop-up at the King & Co! We've developed a tasty Madrid inspired menu, our biggest yet, and cannot wait to get our squid on in Clapham Common this September!"
